Jess is a news reporter for Te Ao Māori News at Māori Television.
Jess first joined our news team in 2017 as an Assignment Editor for Te Kāea. She began her journalism career working as an Assignments Assistant and Online Reporter at TVNZ.
Jess was originally brought up in Whanganui but moved to Tāmaki Makaurau to study a Bachelor of Communications Degree majoring in journalism at AUT University. It was at university where Jess’ passion for reporting Māori news stories grew. After graduating from her degree in 2014 she decided to pursue her passion to learn te reo Māori by studying a full time reo course at Te Wānanga Takiura in Auckland.
